How We're Green
Responsible environmental stewardship is a big part of our mission at MMWEC, supporting our commitment to renewable energy resources.
Being Green is investing in renewable energy resources without a legal mandate. Being Green is developing a Solar Photovoltaic Program specifically for municipal utilities when there is a gap in state programs. Being Green is promoting energy efficiency, demand response and smart grid initiatives. Being Green is responsible environmental stewardship, which is a big part of our mission at MMWEC.
MMWEC has a hand in more than 30 megawatts of renewable energy projects and is a catalyst in bringing Green technology to our Member utilities
The MMWEC Green Team's quick response and understanding of federal energy stimulus programs, funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, played an important role in Marblehead receiving a $1.3 million federal grant to deploy Smart Grid technology.
