The Business Support Services Division is comprised of five departments: Human Resources, Records Management, Information Systems, Purchasing and Materials Management, and Facilities Maintenance and Site Security. The division’s primary responsibilities include human resources, benefits, labor relations, worker’s compensation and unemployment insurance, records management, information systems management, information technology hardware and software support, corporate websites, network security, and procurement and inventory management.

Human Resources
The Human Resources (HR) Department maintains the knowledge of all the legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resource functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance with the law. The department administers and develops programs relating to many facets of human resource functions including the daily administration of company programs. In addition, HR administers benefit programs for all employees and is responsible for the collective bargaining agreement with union employees at the Stony Brook Energy Center.

Records Management
The Records Management Department is responsible for the maintenance and retention of corporate documents in accordance with federal and state regulations, including the requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, and Massachusetts General Law. There are over 50 different regulations MMWEC must comply with including various Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations. The purpose of the department is to determine what regulations the company must adhere to and maintain, and retain those records accordingly. The Records Management Department is further responsible for providing timely and accurate documents and records for legal proceedings or FOI Act requests.

Information Systems
MMWEC's Information Systems Department provides a wide range of computer and information technology services to support MMWEC's corporate functions as well as the needs of the organization's Member and Project Participant utilities. These services include the development, implementation, operation and maintenance of computer and information management systems, including corporate websites. The department is also responsible for maintaining a secure corporate network and maintaining an up-to-date and effective business recovery plan.

Purchasing & Materials Management
The Purchasing and Materials Management Department manages corporate purchases and materials for the Stony Brook Power Plant and Administrative Office Building. The department provides a full range of procurement and inventory management services, including contract labor acquisition and management. The department also assists MMWEC Members with the procurement process of special projects.

Facilities Maintenance and Site Security
Facilities Maintenance is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the MMWEC site. The maintenance staff operates and maintains company vehicles, roads, and grounds as well as the MMWEC Administrative Office Building and numerous service buildings. Building and perimeter security systems are provided and site access/egress is maintained through a contracted security force.
