The MMWEC-owned capacity and energy from these plants is resold at MMWEC’s cost to 28 Massachusetts municipal utilities, the Pascoag (Rhode Island) Utility District and six utilities in Vermont. MMWEC also purchases power in bulk through bilateral contracts with power suppliers and resells the power at cost to participating utilities.
MMWEC’s Stony Brook power plant is featured in a magazine article titled “Assets well cared for get better with age”. The article, published in the second quarter 2010 edition of the Combined Cycle Journal, discusses many of the upgrades MMWEC has made to the plant to keep pace with changes in technology and the wholesale power marketplace.
