Leadership Team

The Leadership Team is responsible for the day-to-day operations of MMWEC, including various power supply, financing, budgeting, human resources, communications and other activities.

Ronald C. DeCurzio

Chief Executive Officer

Ronald C. DeCurzio is Chief Executive Officer and Secretary of the Massachusetts Municipal Wholesale Electric Company (MMWEC), serving at the pleasure of the MMWEC Board of Directors. He is responsible for management, staffing, administration and operation of MMWEC. In addition, he is responsible for overall relations among governing boards, employees, customers and the general public.

Prior to becoming CEO in 2008, he served as MMWEC’s Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer. Additionally, he sits on the boards of the Massachusetts Municipal Light Department Wind Energy Cooperative, the Berkshire Wind Power Cooperative Corporation and the Massachusetts Clean Energy Cooperative. Mr. DeCurzio joined MMWEC in 1997, bringing 15 years of treasury experience in areas such as debt restructuring, portfolio management, banking relations and cash management.

Prior to joining MMWEC, he was employed at the New York Power Authority, where he served in various treasury positions. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Hofstra University’s School of Business. Mr. DeCurzio is a member of the Association of Financial Professionals (formerly the Treasury Management Association) and was NYPA’s representative on the New York State Securities and Investments Coordinating Committee. Mr. DeCurzio also is a member of the Board of Directors at the Northeast Power Coordinating Council (NPCC), a member of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Global Warming Solution Act (GWSA) Implementation Advisory Committee, and a member of the Massachusetts Clean Energy Transmission Working Group. 

Tom Barry

Director of Energy Markets

Tom Barry is responsible for the energy and environmental portfolio management and wholesale market interaction for MMWEC, including the overarching strategy, structuring and ongoing portfolio optimization including the optimization of MMWEC energy infrastructure assets, as well as overarching demand side sustainability efforts. He joined MMWEC in February 2024, bringing a broad background as a senior utility executive focusing on Commercial Optimization, Operational Management, Organizational Strategy and Risk Management. As a Vice President at American Electric Power (AEP) in Columbus, OH, Mr. Barry was the Senior Manager responsible for all commercial optimization and risk management activities surrounding the company’s portfolio of generation assets, associated supply sources, and correlated commodity markets. Prior to AEP, he held various positions in Wholesale Power trading, Derivative Products origination, Finance, & Treasury at Phibro Energy (the commodity subsidiary of Salomon Brothers) He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of California at Berkeley.

Matthew Ide

Executive Director of Special Projects

Matthew Ide is the principal responsible for directing MMWEC’s NEPOOL stakeholder and FERC regulatory strategies and for long-term energy, capacity and transmission resource planning and development. Prior to his current role, he was the Executive Director of Energy & Financial Markets, with the principal responsibility for MMWEC’s activities in the energy and financial markets, including the management of MMWEC’s and Members’ generation assets, development of Members’ power supply portfolios and overseeing MMWEC’s energy efficiency programs. Mr. Ide joined MMWEC in 2013, bringing a broad background in utilities, banking, investments and risk management. He led energy lending units for UPS Capital and RBS Citizens and was Managing Director of Angus Energy’s Advisory & Finance group prior to joining MMWEC. He began his energy career with Yankee Energy System, managing treasury operations and its unregulated finance company, Yankee Energy Financial Services Co. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from George Washington University.

Carol A. Martucci

Director of Financial Reporting & Corporate Technology

Carol A. Martucci is responsible for accounting, budgeting, payroll and accounts payable, billing and oversight of information technology applications and infrastructure. Prior to joining MMWEC in 2009, Ms. Martucci worked in public accounting for multiple CPA firms, including several years at PricewaterhouseCoopers. During this time, Ms. Martucci performed audits of financial statements, internal controls and benefit plans for numerous for-profit, public and not-for-profit companies. She holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Eastern Connecticut State University.

Kathryn M. Roy

Director of Communications & External Affairs

Kathryn M. Roy is responsible for management of MMWEC’s external and internal communications functions, including Member, public and community relations, media affairs, publications production and oversight of four corporate websites. She provides communications support for MMWEC’s legislative and regulatory activities. She also serves as MMWEC’s Records Access Officer and as Assistant Secretary on the MMWEC Board of Directors. Ms. Roy joined MMWEC in 2015 as the Communications Supervisor, and became Director of Communications and External Affairs in 2018. Prior to her time at MMWEC, she worked as the Communications Specialist for the Consolidated School District of New Britain. She has also worked in state government in Connecticut, has 16 years of experience in television, radio and newspaper journalism, and serves on the Randall Boys and Girls Club/Ludlow Community Center Board of Directors. Ms. Roy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.

Jason Viadero

Director of Engineering & Generation Assets

Jason Viadero is responsible for managing all of the MMWEC-owned generation assets in accordance with the appropriate power sales agreements and joint ownership agreements, and other generation assets including the Berkshire Wind Power Cooperative Corporation, in compliance with applicable contracts. Mr. Viadero is also responsible for the operation and maintenance of other assets such as transmission facilities. In addition, he is responsible for the development of new assets with an emphasis on renewables and providing MMWEC with general technical services related to the power industry. Mr. Viadero is responsible for managing MMWEC’s engineering team with respect to environmental, regulatory and safety compliance for MMWEC’s assets. Prior to joining MMWEC in 2016, Mr. Viadero served as the Product Line Manager for Rodney Hunt-Fontaine Company. Mr. Viadero holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Fairfield University, and is a Massachusetts registered Professional Engineer.  

Eric Womack

Director of Business Support & Administrative Services

Eric Womack is responsible for human resources, benefits, labor relations, site security, facilities maintenance, purchasing and materials inventory control, and corporate records. Prior to joining MMWEC in November of 2019, Mr. Womack had over 25 years of experience working in the area of human resources, including four years as the Director of Human Resources for Opus Inspection, Inc., and six years as the Director of Human Resources and Administration for the Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority. Mr. Womack has a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Connecticut and an MBA in Human Resources Management from the University of Phoenix. Mr. Womack is a member of the Forbes Human Resources Council and the Society for Human Resources Management, and is the Learning Systems Facilitator for Development Dimensions International.
